How
to get from Vernon to Giverny
In Vernon, look for signs for Giverny / Beauvais / Gisors: you will cross the river Seine. At the roundabout at the end of the bridge, turn right (signs for Giverny) and drive straight on for 3 km.
In Giverny,
more signs will direct you to the mandatory (but free!) car parks, located
within a short walking distance of the museums. By foot or bicycle From the station, go straight on, along the railway line. The street then turns left and continues straight down to the river bridge, passing in front of the post office and through the city centre. Walk or ride past the (only) traffic light and across the bridge.( If you wish to go to the Tourist Office, turn right at this traffic light (attention, not for bikes): the Tourist Office is about 100m farther, next to the church.) At the roundabout on the other side of the bridge, do not follow the white car signs for Giverny on the right, but walk / ride straight on following the brown-coloured signs showing "Musées de Giverny" with drawings of a pedestrian and of a cyclist. Walk / ride past the next street and turn right into 'Voie Touflet'. (Brown-coloured sign again). Do not hesitate to take it even if the first 100 metres look more like a cark park than a way for pedestrians and bicycles! You will; then have a nice walk or ride to Giverny.
When arriving
in Giverny, cyclists and pedestrians can bear left to go through the
village. However, pedestrians can also bear right, cross the main road
and find a pleasant path 30 / 40 metres farther on (opposite the petrol
station) that will lead them to the Giverny car parks, i.e.100m from
the museums , without going through the village. Bicycle rentals |

Bus shuttle A bus service to and from Giverny runs from April 1st until October 31st. Departure from of the station (30 m away, along the railway line) The shuttle also stops in the city centre ( Place de Paris) and arrives in the main car park in Giverny (The return journey to Vernon leaves from there too) The journey takes 10 / 15 minutes. On the way back, the 'Place de Paris' stop in Vernon centre is 500 m away from the station and enables you to have a look at the Collegiate church and the 'Old Vernon' or to do some shopping before catching the train. The return ticket costs 3€ (in 2005) and is valid for a whole day: this allows, why not, to come back for lunch in Vernon and return to Giverny in the afternoon with the 14:00 shuttle.
A bus connects every train from/to Rouen and Paris. For instance the first shuttle leaves at 9:10 am after the 9:05 train has arrived from Paris (on Saturdays this train is due at 9:26 - shuttle at 9:30, on Sundays the train arrives at 8:52 - shuttle at 9) It is advised
to ask the bus driver about the return hour. Accurate information is available
from the Information kiosk in Giverny (Nr 5 on the map of Giverny) or
from the Tourist Office in Vernon. The Railway Company traditionally
changes the train time-tables n early July. The shuttle adapts to the
