Walking around Vernon

Because the city is located at the foot of the hills of the Seine valley, Vernon is an ideal place for quiet walking and hiking.

Several walking tours have been marked, from one-hour leisurely walks to four-hour hiking, thus giving the visitor a wide choice. Moreover the general lie of the land makes walking there easy or very easy except for very few short steeper climbs so that all the tours are suited to children or elderly people.

Most of the tours are pleasantly shaded walks in forests - perfect for a Sunday afternoon stroll. Others will take you along the river Seine and offer distant vistas.

The Tourist Office in Vernon has a brochure (ask for ‘Randonnées’) with half a dozen trails, all clearly explained and accompanied by good maps.

Visitors of this site are also suggested a very pleasant walk in the hills above Giverny
