Canoe and Kayak

Canoes and kayaks for hire on the river Seine (in Vernon) or the river Eure (in Ménilles, near Pacy sur Eure)
Both tours start from the Vernon boating centre, the club hauling the craft to Ménilles, when required.
Advanced booking is advised for individuals, and compulsory for groups.

How to get there :
From Vernon city centre, cross the river bridge and turn left at the roundabout in the direction of Gisors - Beauvais. The gate of the boating centre (signpost: Centre de Loisirs - Base nautique des Tourelles) is 89 /100m away on the left. ( Map of Vernon #27)

Fishing

Fishing in a small lake that is regularly stocked with fish during the whole season.

How to get there :
1/from Vernon : Drive out of the city in the direction of Evreux – Pacy – A13 to Rouen. Once out of the town, turn right at the second roundabout (which also gives access to A13 Rouen): take D 57 for Cocherel. In Cocherel, turn right to cross the river bridge (direction of Evreux) [*] then the railway line. Turn left again at a wayside cross (sign post ‘Sens interdit, accès réservé aux pêcheurs et riverains’ i.e. ‘No entry except anglers’ Take this little road and the lake is 800 m farther away.
2/ from Pacy : take the direction of Ménilles, Chambray, Louviers as far as Cocherel. There, turn left to cross the river bridge (direction of Evreux) and follow as above (see *)

Microlight flying

Pascal Chédeville proposes microlight first flights and discovery flights above the Eure valley (or neighbouring places).

Picnicking is possible alongside the airstrip. Special exhibitions are held during the season with reduced fares ( May and June generally).
Individuals but also groups are welcome.

How to get there : from Vernon, go to Pacy sur Eure, then take N13 in the direction of Evreux. Shortly after the top of the hill, turn left (small country road with road sign : Le Buisson de Mai). The airstrip is 800m away, behind the farm.

Horse riding

How to get there :
1/ From Vernon, take the direction of Evreux - Pacy - Autoroute A13 for Rouen (not Paris) and leave the town. A few hundred metres after the top of the hill, at the roundabout, turn right (signposts : Camping, ZA du Mont Vernon et CNPP)[*] then take the first road on the left, about 1 km later. (Careful there is no signpost there, except a small one with ‘Rue de la Heunière’, but it is the first and only road after the roundabout). Drive 700 / 800 m along this country road and the stables are 100 m on the right in a lane across the pastures.
2/ From Pacy sur Eure: go towards Vernon. You will pass above the motorway ( two roundabouts) and arrive at a third roundabout (signposted Camping, ZA du Mont Vernon et CNPP ). Turn left and follow as above (see*)

How to get there : From Vernon, go to Pacy sur Eure. At the bottom of the hill, do not turn left, but right into the city centre. Continue until you are out of Pacy. 500 m farther you arrive at Saint Aquilin de Pacy. There, turn left (D 71) towards Fains, Merey (7 km away), Garennes. Signposts in Merey for the stables.

Horse riding and trekking for novices or experienced riders (accompanied by guides) from March to September.

How to get there :
1/From Vernon city centre, take the direction of Evreux – Pacy, cross the railway line over a bridge. Just after the bridge do not turn right towards Evreux - Pacy but drive straight on along Avenue de l’Ardèche. Keep on driving, up into the forest, out of it, through the hamlet of Courcailles. Turn right just when arriving in Blaru (towards Le But) ; the riding centre is on the left, 500 m away.
2/ From Pacy sur Eure, take N13 towards Bonnières and Mantes as far as Chaufour les Bonnières. There you turn left (roadsign for Blaru). Drive to Blaru ( the first village, as a matter of fact) past the village square and turn left 100 metres after the church (towards Le But). The riding centre is on the left, 500 m away.

How to get there :
1/From Vernon city centre, take the direction of Evreux – Pacy, cross the railway line over a bridge. Just after the bridge do not turn right towards Evreux - Pacy but drive straight on along Avenue de l’Ardèche. Tours in a chauffeur-driven Vintage Car

The Citroen Traction is a mythical car, which you can hire with a chauffeur to discover the region leisurely.

Several tours are available, that can be adapted on request

Mill tour: there used to be plenty of water mills around Vernon
