WHO ARE WE?

The site you are now visiting is owned by " Les Partenaires de l'Office de Tourisme : VERNON et ses environs" Association (The Partners of the Vernon Tourist Office: Vernon and surrounding places). We are here to think about and take part in the tourist development of Vernon and the surrounding area, that is to say mainly GIVERNY, the village that the master of impressionist painting made famous, Claude Monet, who lived there for forty years.

Since 2005, the Tourist Office of Vernon has been managed by the Greater Vernon Council (Communauté d'agglomérations des Portes de l'Eure , or C.A.P.E.), as part of a larger structure that now includes the other Tourist Offices that already existed within the territory of the new administrative unit.

Our association, registered under French law as "type Loi 1901", has therefore given up the management of the Tourist Office while remaining bound to it, both structures playing a mutually complementary role. The C.A.P.E. Officials provide fundings and define medium and long term policy and projects. As voluntary workers, the Partners, which we have become, contribute by bringing their experience, know-how and knowledge of local resources and situation.

What about visitors? How does this effect them?

It is immaterial for them to know about the new administrative and legal organisation of the Tourist Office.
What matters to them is the quality of the welcome and of the information - and nothing has changed in this respect. We are all intent on providing visitors with the best service, for them to discover the beauty and charm of our area.
